A COPY

On examination of the only Book now in the Chief Magistrate's office containing the daily amount of Fines imposed and Collected during the year 1844, which was kept by Mr. Collins the Jailor, it appears that the sum of $1399. was the Total amount of Fines collected in that year, whereas from the Returns attached to the Treasurer's accounts for that year it appears that the sum of $1429.62 being by $29.89 in excess of the Collections from the Book abovementioned.
